I, Tatyanta, have reached a goal that I thought would had been impossible or hard to pursue. Two years ago I received information about AP (Advanced Placement) classes; classes that students take in order to receive a college credit, its higher level learning. my junior year I decided to challenge myself beyond all means possible; taking honors and AP classes in the same year is truly a challenge for young students today.
My favorite teacher, Mrs.Day, taught me a variety of things:writing Argument, Synthesis, Rhetorical Analysis essays, and multiple choice questions. I know that teaching AP language and Composition might have been difficult for her, but she continued and yet taught 14 bright students how to pass and make a 5 on the nationwide AP test. This not only prepare us for a rigorous college coarse but she improved our comprehension of literacy in the world. Now I know that i'm prepared to learn on a level that most high school students wouldn't dare to attempt.
While taking the coarse I bettered my learning, comprehension, and speech skills. it goes to say then, that, Socratic seminars were my favorite activities int the class, The way that we hear each others perspectives and view points broadens our view of thoughts and opinions on the topic; this is beneficial for our real world, day to day lives.
Mrs. day asked if there was an activity that I disliked during the year. Honestly, everything we did was so much fun and joyous but i would say my least favorite activity was learning how to qualify an argument; its so confusing and yet more complicated than defending and refuting arguments. Other than that, this class was absolutely perfect.
I want t thank yo, Mrs. Day, for all the effort you put in while teaching me. You are the true definition of an awesome teacher. When these AP scores return i hope that you will be proud but I know you are proud of us anyways.
Without this class I wouldn't understand the different points of literacy. I can now say that I am a step ahead of high school students but ready to continue taking on the rigorous college courses for my future.

Great numbers of Black Southerners emigrated to the cities of the North during the Twenties and the Thirties. The new lives of these urban African-Americans in the industrial North were radically different from those they had led in the Agrarian South. On the surface, they confronted much less prejudice. What were the differences in racial attitudes between the two cultures? Was the prejudice of the North less real because it was better hidden?
Black Americans moved from South to North during World War I and the decade that followed changed forever black America's economic, political, social, and cultural lives. The Great Migration was, up to that point, the largest voluntary internal movement of black people ever seen. The migration continued roughly the for the next twenty years. By 1970, about five million African Americans had made the journey, and the geographic map of black America had fundamentally changed. Black Southerners pulled up stakes and headed north. Both their places of origin and destination shifted from earlier patterns.I believe that
they also moved in order to maintain safe haven from anti-abolitionists.
While the Great Migration helped educated African Americans obtain jobs, eventually enabling a measure of class mobility, the migrants encountered significant forms of discrimination. It wasn't like the worse of the South but it was surely hard for them to get jobs and even a fair education.
In many ways the North was less prejudice. Slavery had just been nullified from the South. So in many ways whites may have thought they still had control over the blacks no matter what the constitution might have said.
Was the prejudice the North less real because it was better hidden? In many ways I thought that the North would be a new beginning for the African Americans who emigrated. Not necessarily because the prejudice was hidden but maybe because the different opportunities they had. For instance, better jobs, education, land.
African- Americans wanted nothing more than the so called AMERICAN DREAM. I assume that moving to the North would better everything.

A Short Satire..."Gang Violence Overruling Peace"
This is a short satire I made about gang Violence and Peace...Beware of SARCASM!!
Wow, who doesn't love some bittersweet violence. This is our daily dose of belligerence. Just imagine the world without gang violence. It would be soooo boring and benumb. So here is the solution from removing peace from our communities.
Gang Violence Overruling peace
Wow, who doesn't love some bittersweet violence. This is our daily dose of belligerence. Just imagine the world without gang violence. It would be soooo boring and benumb. So here is the solution from removing peace from our communities.
First, we rally all
gangs together and begin war about blasphemous things. Only to see that we are
killing each other and ruining hope for
our future generations. This will surely decrease the population from billions
to a couple of hundred thousand.
Secondly, we give
weapons and illegal drugs to our upcoming teens so that they may sell them and
make an extravagant profit. At least the U.S want be in debt anymore.
Third we encourage our
young ones to become affiliated with gangs. Make sure your cousins. Nieces,
nephews, sons, daughters and even the newborns know that gangs and violence is
the best thing anyone can have!
I mean what’s the worst that could happen; we all get flared with AK47
bullets. This would be such a phenomenon.
Doing these things will
give our policeman a break. If gangs overrule the city then no one can stop the
violence. (It’s not like they do their jobs anyways).
In conclusion I believe
that we agree to keep violence in the community. Let’s continue to let these
frivolous or minor things ruin the peace
in our communities. After all it is a GOOD THING RIGHT?

Kendrick Johnson, Accident or MURDER
Do we pay attention to the things that go on in today's society. So many people are killing each other for no reason at all. Kendrick Johnson, a high school athlete recently was killed. The state of Georgia is continuing to work on the case. he was found in his high school gym wrapped inside of a mat. many say that Kendrick's death was an accident but in my opinion this is foul play:MURDER.
We really won't to know the truth so that Kendrick may have JUSTICE. This will not be another Trayvon Martin case. CNN has obtained surveillance video, which was part of what the judge ordered released, showing Kendrick walking along a school hallway and into the gym where he was later found dead. Another student is seen walking in ahead of him.
There is plenty of evidence that is obtained from the school showing that Kendrick walked into the gym and never came out. While other student s seem to miraculously never notice Kendrick Johnson walking into the the gym. from my understanding Kendrick was minding his own business and being a teenager and sadly his life came to an end. He was beaten to death. He felt pain and agony. He thought he would walk out of school that day alive and spend time with his family. Sadly , Kendrick is no longer with us. Emmitt Till, Trayvon Martin, and now Kendrick Johnson; what more can society take. We must serve our nation well and have justice for Kendrick Johnson.

Affimative Action Controversy
Has anyone really paid attention to the Affirmative Law Controversy in Michigan. On November 7, 2013 students in Michigan protested about the conflicts with the Affirmative Law conflict. Affirmative Law simply states that the state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to any
individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national
origin in the operation of public employment, public education or public
contracting."
Really what is our society really coming to. Why go against something that is truly fair. No one has the right to discriminate anyone due to their color, religion or race. The US Supreme Court took up an unusual – but important – civil rights case on whether to ban on using race-based affirmative action in college admissions in Michigan violates the equal protection rights of minorities.
Michigan is no stranger to controversy over affirmative action. More than a decade ago, white students challenged race-conscious admissions programs at the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School. In 2003, the Supreme Court struck down the university’s affirmative action program for relying too heavily on race. At the same time the high court upheld the law school’s program.
Now you tell me if this is fair or not???

Summmarization of the Abraham Lincoln Second Inaugural Address
On the day of March 4, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was admitted into his second Inaugural Address. His speech was overwhelming but yet serious. The purpose of the speech was to inform the nation of the problems of South and the North face with the Civil War.
I believed that their was no cause for the slavery period. Abraham Lincoln proudly disagreed with it and made the Emancipation Proclamation official. He wanted peace amongst the nations and between ourselves.
Slavery was a very important issue for the Civil War. The South wanted to continue and expand the territories of the slaves, while the North wanted slavery to be abolished and not expanded. Both sides thought that they could have their way but as Abraham Lincoln stated only God may judge someone else. American Slavery is one of the offenses, in providence of God, must needs come but which having continued through his appointed time.God has a will to remove the war that the North and South created.

Racial Profiling
Racial profiling is law enforcement and private security practice that
disproportionately target people because of their ethnicity for investigation and enforcement. For example, airport officials pulled someone aside and questioned him before allowing him
to board a plane simply because he’s a Muslim American, and they thought he
might be a terrorist. Just because he is Muslim does it make it right for you to assume him as a terrorist?
Racial profiling continues to be a prevalent and gross form of discrimination in the United States. This unjust practice remains a stain on American democracy.Refereeing back to paragraph one :since September 11, 2001, new forms of racial profiling have affected a growing number of people of color in the U.S., including members of Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities. The Obama administration has inherited a shameful legacy of racial profiling codified in official FBI guidelines and a notorious registration program that treats Arabs and Muslims as suspects and denies them the presumption of innocence and equal protection under the law.
Policies and practices have wrought destruction on individuals, families and communities, tearing them apart through unjust detentions, raids and more. It is hard for critics to trust the American society with ethnicity and cultures. This is why they continue to discriminate and profile them. One can make a mistake but why blame the entire society or ethnic group on that one event. Yes, we face adversity but maybe we will better ourselves to treat each other equally.
From my prior knowledge I learned that The Fourteenth Amendment states, very clearly, that no state may "deny to any
person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Racial
profiling is based on a standard of unequal protection.
Blacks and Latinos are more likely to be searched by police and less likely to
be treated as law-abiding citizens; whites are less likely to be searched by
police and more likely to be treated as law-abiding citizens. This is
incompatible with the concept of equal protection.
